EMDR Intensive therapy in Columbus and online across Ohio
Dig Deeper, Get relief faster
Unhurried time to help you process the past, get unstuck, and feeling better…faster.
EMDR therapy intensives can offer a more efficient and cost-effective path toward healing.
Years of weekly therapy doesn’t have to be the only path to healing.
Does this sound like you?
You recently went through something that has really rocked your sense of safety.
Maybe you feel like you have a lot of self-awareness and great insight and understand everything logically but your body is still stuck and you can’t seem to think your way through things anymore.
Maybe you have tried traditional therapy before and felt like it was helpful but it only got you so far.
You have tried 50 minute weekly sessions and find that when you start making progress or feel close to a breakthrough then it is time to wrap up and you are left feeling like you needed more time or don’t want to have to wait until the next week or week after just to start all over again to get into things.
You have been meaning to start therapy for a while now but your hectic and busy schedule has made it feel near impossible to get started.
You know there has to be another way to reach your goals… another way to feel better and not wait for years to get the relief you have been longing for.
Why do an EMDR Intensive?
Intensives create intentional time that is ONLY focused on you and what you are needing. We are able to make better use of our time and really dig deep. A 3 hours of intensive work is equivalent to about 5-6 hours of weekly therapy.
With a traditional 50 minute therapy session, you typically take about 10-15 minutes to open and close the session and leaving only about 36 minutes to do EMDR therapy. Time and time again, I have noticed it just does not feel like enough time. With an intensive, you have anywhere from 3 hours, a full day, or multiple days to really work through specific and targeted goals without feeling rushed. You don’t have to worry about losing momentum week to week or letting life get in the way.
Intensives are for you if you are ready to dig deeper and really experience meaningful transformation that can be truly life changing. Intensives are great for those who had a painful past experience or experiences that are still impacting them today without the commitment on ongoing therapy.
You may have found EMDR helpful in the past. You’re ready to tackle past challenges or prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for big life changes coming up, like a wedding, having a baby, medical procedure, new job, or moving. Intensives are also convenient for those who’s busy schedule doesn't allow them to attend ongoing therapy sessions.
You might feel stuck in your current weekly therapy, or have the sense you're on the verge of a breakthrough. EMDR intensives can help you break through stuck points and accelerate your work with your current therapist.

FAQ about EMDR therapy intensives in Columbus OH
-
EMDR therapy stands for eye movement descentization and reprocessing. It is a highly researched, evidenced based psychotherapy approach. Through the use of bilateral stimulation (such as self-tapping or auditory beeps in each ear, it rewires your brain, so that you no longer feel the intensity and negative charge associated with past traumatic memories or distressing experiences in your life that have caused you to feel stuck.
EMDR Intensive Therapy is a powerful way to accelerate your healing and relief that you would experience in a standard 50 minute EMDR session. Instead of going to counseling sessions weekly for an hour at a time and possibly losing the momentum week to week, you get to plan for a specific allotted time (A half day, full day, or multiple day intensive).
It is a concentrated way to get the effectiveness of EMDR therapy without having the time in between sessions. While everyone is unique in their experience, some have found they can do months to years worth of healing and work they would have gotten in weekly sessions into one or two intensive sessions.

Pre-Intensive Interview
A 90 minute session scheduled in advance that gives us an opportunity to discuss the goals of the intensive and prepare for the experience. We will identify together themes in your life that may be keeping you stuck, painful or distressing memories, as well as beliefs and/or emotions/sensations that you are needing relief from. We will discuss any other personalized items or things that may help you feel more comfortable and confident that you can bring with you or that I can have on hand that may help (ie snacks, music, artwork, pictures, etc).
Personalized Treatment Workbook
This workbook is designed to provide you with both assessments and activities to prepare you for the intensive. The workbook also allows for an opportunity to track your treatment goals at the beginning stages prior to the intensive, during, and after the intensive sessions.
